Whom
We Serve
Nineteen year old Megan visited our clinic because she had been
experiencing pain and swollen glands in her throat for several months.
She had a part-time job but did not have health insurance and couldn't
afford to pay for medical care. Through a series of appointments
Megan was referred to one of our volunteer surgeons, Dr. Robert
Maganini, who performed a biopsy of Megan’s lymph nodes confirming
his suspicion of lymphoma. Megan was able to seek help at a county
hospital where she underwent radiation therapy. After only one treatment
session, the lump in her throat was visibly smaller, and Megan and
her care givers are very hopeful for her prognosis.
Patrick, a 55 year old gentleman was referred to our clinic by the
county health department because his part time job did not provide
him with health insurance. Patrick had a history of anxiety, high
blood pressure, and elevated cholesterol and was substantially overweight.
His father had died at the age of 56 from heart disease and Patrick
feared that he too would realize a premature death. He was enrolled
in the hypertensive clinic at TCHP and was given a treatment plan
that included instruction on diet and exercise; regular clinic visits
and lab work. With-in a month Patrick began to see improvement in
all areas of his health. Determined to make the lifestyle changes
that were encouraged by the medical staff, he lost 50 pounds and
has realized dramatic improvements in his health. Patrick’s
comments from his last visit: “This has been an extremely
wonderful experience for me. The staff has been a fantastic source
of encouragement to me! They have enabled me to be healthier. They
have helped me to set attainable goals and to successfully reach
them for that I am forever grateful.”
